FOREIGNER’S REGIONAL REGISTRATION OFFICE (FRRO)
If your passport (and therefore the visa) has been stolen, or if you want to renew your visa to extend your stay, you must go to the FRRO. A 15-day extension is issued free of charge. To do this, you must bring a passport photo, a photocopy of your passport and that of your visa (there is a photocopier in front of the FRRO), and your return flight ticket. For a longer extension, this is the fighter's course, but nothing prevents you from trying. The FRRO will give you the procedure, which can be very stressful, repetitive, and time-consuming. All major cities in India have a FRRO.
