KALKAJI TEMPLE
A Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kali, its oldest parts, a blend of granite and white marble, were built in 1764.
A lovely legend is attributed to this temple dedicated to the goddess Kali. A farmer was unsuccessfully milking his cow until he discovered that she was in fact offering all her milk to the goddess. Proud of the beast, he built this temple in her honor and rewarded the animal by bathing it in milk every day! The oldest parts of this Hindu temple, combining granite and white marble, were built in 1764. The idol is overflowing with fresh flower necklaces, which are changed daily. It is a painted stone representing a face.
