SAFDARJUNG TOMB
Built in 1754, this tomb is the last example of Mughal architecture, with the typical layout of the great tombs of the period.
Built in 1754 by the nawab of Avadh for his father, this beautiful mausoleum is the last notable example of Mughal architecture. It follows the typical plan of the great tombs of the time: a building erected on a platform, topped by a bulbous dome and surrounded by a garden. Despite the disproportions of its facade, it remains one of the most elegant monuments of the capital. Small pavilions adorn the site, as well as a madrasa, a Koranic school. It is only rarely visited, but it is worth the detour when visiting the tomb of Humayun.
