SAYYID AND LODHI TOMBS
Tombs of the last sultans, including Mohammed Shah, built in 1450, and Sikander Lodhi, surrounded by a crenellated wall.
The tombs of the last sultans of Delhi (15th and early 16th century) are rather disappointing compared to the finesse of those of the Mughal period. The tomb of Mohammed Shah was built in 1450 and its gallery is inspired by Hindu architecture. The Bara Gumbad (large mausoleum), erected in 1494 for a court dignitary, is enriched with a small mosque and a room for the faithful. At the bottom of the garden, the tomb of Sikander Lodhi (1517) is surrounded by a crenellated wall.
