KASHMIRI GATE
A gateway to the summer residences of the Mughals, the rest of the building bears witness to Mughal architecture, with a double arch and low stone wall.
Not much remains of the gateway through which the Moghuls passed on their way to their summer residences. It was the scene of fierce fighting during the Cipayan revolt in 1857 and collapsed during the final assault. What remains of the gate is a testimony to the distinctive Mughal architecture with its double arch and the low stone wall above it. It is hard to imagine that the area around Kashmiri Gate was in the 1920s a favorite meeting place for the British living in the nearby Civil Lines.
