RASHTRAPATI BHAWAN
Official residence of the President of India, formerly occupied by the Viceroy of India, located at the western end of Raj Path.
At the western end of Raj Path, you will see an imposing dome, the official residence of the President of India, formerly occupied by the Viceroy of India. On either side of the avenue, the secretariat buildings have been taken over by ministries. To the north stands the Union Parliament, whose vast hemicycle is subject to stringent security measures. In December 2001, Pakistani terrorists attacked it and tried unsuccessfully to take members of Parliament hostage, creating a climate of high tension between the two neighbouring countries.
