TIBET HOUSE
An establishment retracing the history of the Himalayan kingdoms and the links between India and Tibet, with a museum and bookshop.
It is a good opportunity to delve into the history of the Himalayan kingdoms and to recall the close ties between India and Tibet. Jawaharlal Nehru welcomed without hesitation his holiness the Dalai Lama when the latter left Lhasa because of Chinese persecution, in 1959. He even offered to establish his exile capital in Dharamshala. This solicitude caused much harm to India... and even a war with China in 1962. A small museum presents cult objects(thangka, scepters...) and statues. The bookshop proposes books on Buddhism.
