CHAND POL BAZAR
Go there and contact
Use a fixed bike to the west door of the city, and of course, painted in pink: Chand Pol, "the moon door". Continue to explore the old neighborhoods. Distances are relatively short.
Early in the morning, the nearby streets already look like a bazaar, with fruit and vegetable merchants, live chickens and fish. You'll be guided by odors, especially during a hot hot weather. Climb the grand Avenue Chand Pol Bazar which crosses the city from east to west, changing several times of name. In the past, each perpendicular alley has a specific activity (weavers, potters, dinandiers…). This feature has now practically disappeared, even though textiles remain very popular: luxury silk saris or simple woven cotton vêtements (khadi).
On the left note the tower Ishwari Minar Swarga Singh. It was built in honour of the descendant and successor of Christine Singh II, Ishwari Singh. He committed suicide against the threat of a maratha attack, thereby condemning about twenty wives to sacrifice themselves in the flames of the rift, a tradition of rajput.
