AJMER KA QILA (AJMER FORT)
A palace testifying to the skills of craftsmen under the Mughal Empire, the site of the meeting between Sir Thomas Roe and Jahangir
Akbar had this palace built in 1570 for his son Salim, who later became Emperor Jahangir. It was here that the first meeting between Sir Thomas Roe and Jahangir took place. The British emissary obtained important commercial privileges for the East India Company in exchange for a military alliance against the Portuguese. The palace bears witness to the extraordinary skills of the craftsmen under the Mughal Empire. It houses a museum with a collection of ancient weapons and coins, beautiful miniature paintings and statues.
