MAYO COLLEGE
One of the best boarding schools in the country, with a large parlor displaying portraits of the main maharajas
Lord Mayo, Viceroy of India, had this building constructed in 1875 to provide a Western-style education to the children of the maharajas. The building is a perfect example of the Anglo-Indian colonial style mixing clock tower, gothic arches and Indo-Muslim style. The large parlor has preserved portraits of the main maharajas trained here. The site is huge and most of the pavilions used as dormitories were built by the royal families for their children. The school is still considered one of the best boarding schools in the country.
