Majestic cenotaph on a high platform decorated with friezes, erected for the governess of the king of Bundi, Rao Raja Anirudh
Standing on a high platform decorated with friezes, this majestic cenotaph rivals the finest chhatris in Rajasthan. Yet it was not erected for any prince or king, but for a governess. The king of Bundi Rao Raja Anirudh demanded its erection in 1683 in memory of his beloved nanny. Built on two floors, the first one supports with its 84 delicate pillars, a set of bell towers and a central dome with onion bulb roofs characteristic of Rajput architecture. The only regret is that this memorial is so far from the city.
