Impressive wells dug right down to the water table, with or without sculpted pillars, statues or arches...
The city is dotted with baoris, i.e. wells of impressive size dug down to the water table. The most beautiful is the Rani ki Baori, 46 meters deep. It is decorated with sculpted pillars representing the different reincarnations of Vishnu. The Bhavaldi Baori is equally impressive. At the bottom of the steps, you pass an arch supported by two majestic elephants. On each side of the well, two very beautiful statues of Vishnu and Brahma. If the gate is closed, don't hesitate to knock at the house opposite.
