SUKH MAHAL
On the shores of Jait Sagar Lake to the north of the city, this small building was commissioned by Maharajah Vishnu Singh, who ruled between 1773 and 1821. The pavilion, built overlooking the lake, was designed for hot summer days and evenings. Just stand between the 2 wings of the building and feel the wind blowing through the openwork screens. Today, it's a small museum displaying old photos and a few modest paintings. Anecdotally, Rudyard Kipling is said to have stayed here for 2 nights, enabling him to write about Bundi.
