Character hotel with period library, relaxing garden with adjoining swimming pool, suites with bathroom, etc.

This property, owned by members of the Udaipur royal family, was converted into a hotel in 1975. The place has character and charm, and its location is ideal. Now it's the grandchildren who are taking up the torch, with big plans in mind. The rooms and communal areas were being renovated at the time of our visit, with plans for a shared kitchen and dining room. Everything is brand new, from the bedding to the bathrooms. Only the swimming pool, which is very pleasant, has not changed. Charming welcome.

Ancien palais de maharadja, nous avons été charmés par l'atmosphère qui s'en dégageait. Notre chambre située dans la partie rénovée, sous les arcades, était décorée de peintures florales, la salle de bain attenante est neuve et spacieuse. Le petit restaurant est correct et tout est fait à la demande. L'accueil est chaleureux et le service attentionné. La chambre donnait sur un mignon parc arboré avec pelouse où l'on peut se prélasser et il y a une petite piscine très propre. Cet hôtel est idéalement situé parce qu'on est à deux pas du City Palace, ce qui permet d'y aller aussi bien de jour que de nuit lorsqu'il est tout illuminé.

Au début on ne savait pas trop qu'en penser. La rue à côté est assez bruyante, certains équipements comme la TV sont assez vieillots, pas de vrais draps, wifi moyen etc... Et pourtant. Petit à petit ce magnifique palais, bien qu'un peu décati, nous a charmés. Nous étions dans une spacieuse suite avec des alcôves donnant sur le beau jardin. Eau chaude OK, calme relatif la nuit, restaurant correct. La gentillesse et la disponibilité du personnel sont à noter. Un endroit que je recommande donc, même si l'entretien devra à l'avenir être amélioré.
