JAG MANDIR
Palace built on an islet designed to host majestic parties and receptions and converted into a small 7-room hotel
Built on an islet in the 17th century by Maharana Karan Singh, it is the first palace of its kind. It was intended to organize majestic parties and receptions. Later, it served as a refuge for the Mughal Emperor Shajahan during a dispute with his father in the 17th century. According to legend, Shah Jahan was inspired by Jagmandir to build the Taj Mahal. On the island, you will see stone-cut elephants and a grey stone chattri (umbrella). The palace has been converted into a small hotel with 7 rooms, accessible to the public.
