GANGA STATE MUSEUM
Old-fashioned museum with varied collections of Gupta sculptures, Sanskrit manuscripts in the library
This old museum contains interesting collections of sculptures from the Gupta period (4th-6th century), musical instruments, miniatures, hunting trophies and paintings of no great value but recalling the warlike exploits of the maharajas of Bikaner. The real treasure of the museum is the collection of Sanskrit manuscripts displayed in the Anup Library. Anup Singh brought them back in the 17th century after fighting some battles in the Deccan.
The museum dates back to 1937 and was opened on the occasion of the jubilee (50 years of rule) of Maharaja Ganga Singh.
