MOTI DAMAN FORT
Built between 1559 and 1581, the fort is surrounded by ramparts and features staircases leading to the lighthouse, the Bom Jesus church and a chapel.
This fort was built at the time when Daman was a Portuguese enclave. Its construction began in 1559 and was completed in 1581. The walk in the enclosure of the fort, surrounded by ramparts and with 10 bastions, is pleasant. The lighthouse is reached by stairs along the ramparts. The visitor takes a trip back to the time of the Portuguese colonization. Near the gate, you can see the house of the Portuguese poet Bocage. Not to be missed is the Bom Jesus church, completed in 1603, and the beautiful chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary.
