UPARKOT FORT
Fort built in the century B.C. by Chandragupta, housing the Jami Masjid, the tomb of Nuri Shah and two bâoli.
Built in the 3rd century BC by Chandragupta, a Maurya ruler. The fort was extended and modified many times by its different occupants. Legend also has it that it was abandoned between the 7th and 10th centuries and then rediscovered overgrown with jungle. Inside, you will notice the Jami Masjid, built with materials from a Hindu palace, as well as the tomb of Nuri Shah and two bâoli: Adi Chadi Vav, the shallowest, dates from the 15th century. Naughan Kuvo would have at least a thousand years and reaches a depth of 52 meters.
