SWAMINARAYAN TEMPLE
Temple with pink sandstone entrance portico, carved wooden doors, 200 kilos of gold on gopuram spires and domes.
This temple replaces the one built by Swaminarayan in the 19th century and demonstrates the extraordinary talent of Indian craftsmen. The pink sandstone entrance portico with its imposing carved wooden doors, the majestic marble esplanade at the end of which stands the elevated temple, the gopuram and bulbous domes supported by more than a hundred finely worked columns... In the center of the prayer hall, a rose window made of semi-precious stones is inlaid in the floor. 200 kilos of pure gold were necessary to dress the spires of the gopuram and the domes.
