Very close to the Mahabodhi temple, this large monastery offers about thirty well kept rooms with bathroom; your back will appreciate the great firmness of the mattresses. The rates are certainly among the lowest of the local market but during the annual visit of the Dalai Lama, the place is closed to tourists because the spiritual leader resides there. Visit the small temple of the monastery, the Gendhen Phelgyeling. In the off season, it is possible to be alone.
