DUNGESHWARI CAVES
Sacred caves where Buddha spent several years alone and isolated before moving to Bodhgaya, a Hindu temple on the spot.
It is here that the Buddha spent several years alone and isolated, before joining Bodhgaya. You will see three sacred caves, Buddhist places of worship as well as a Hindu temple. By auto-rickshaw, go to Khiryama and cross the bridge. Be careful the ascent to the caves is really rough! If it's hot, think to bring a bottle of water because there is none on the way and you might feel sick because there is not a bit of shade. At least, that's what almost happened to us in 45 degrees in May...
