Agency offering a tour of the Sunderbans reserve and accommodation in the Sunderbans Jungle Camp with bungalows.
Help Tourism organizes an excursion to the Sunderbans Reserve. Visitors are accommodated in the Sunderbans Jungle Camp, in a small village on the edge of the national park. The lodge is built with respect for nature and consists of six bungalows. Each one is equipped with a toilet and shower. Solar energy and a generator are used to operate the fan. The common dining room is located on the Fishermen's Deck.
This ecotourism project was developed by Help Tourism and the Association for Conservation and Tourism (ACT) in cooperation with WWF India, the Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI) and a local NGO the Bali Wildlife and Nature Conservation Society (BNWCS). Also on site is a conservation center where a conservation program and ecological monitoring of animal species has been initiated. Part of the profits are used for the management of the reserve and the development of projects in the field of education, health, etc.
The camp employs about 20 people from the community. The tourism activity also generates indirect employment. Sundarbans Jungle Camp is located near the village. The local people were consulted extensively before the project was implemented to determine their involvement in the activity and have undergone numerous seminars and training.
Educational tours are organized in the park with trained local guides. Two boats are available for a tour of the mangrove. Village visits.
