HAPPY VALLEY TEA ESTATE
Tea plantation dating back to 1854, one of the oldest in Darjeeling, ideal to visit between March and April during the plucking season.
Established in 1854, this plantation is the second oldest in Darjeeling (after the Steinthal Tea Estate) and covers about 177 hectares. The tea produced here is sold in France by the brand Mariages Frères. The plantation is famous but it is not the most interesting to visit. Go there especially between March and April during the plucking season, take a cab on Hill Cart Road or go there on foot (about 15 minutes walk from Chowrasta). For a few rupees, an employee will show you the garden and the factory.
