GADEN THARPA CHOLING MONASTERY
Tibetan Buddhist monastery founded in 1912, museum with Tibetan objects and photo gallery linked to the Dalai Lama's exile.
The Tibetan Buddhist monastery Gadan Tharpa Choling was founded in 1912 at the request of Bhutanese personalities and Tibetan merchants. It shelters Tibetan monks of the sect of the Yellow Caps (Gelugpa), from which the current Dalaï-lama comes. The temple of the protective deity of the monastery, the Lha-Ten, is located behind the main hall. A small but very interesting museum exhibits Tibetan objects and a photo gallery shows the exile of the Dalai Lama.
