DO-DRUL CHÖRTEN
Sacred Buddhist monument, one of the most imposing in Sikkim to visit, offering mandalas, holy scriptures and mantras
Not far from the Institute of Tibetology is this stupa (Buddhist sacred monument), built in 1946 by Trulshi Rimpoche, of the Nyingma order. It is today one of the most imposing in Sikkim. It contains mandalas, scriptures and mantras. The monument is surrounded by smaller stupas and 108 prayer wheels, cylinders filled with Om Mani Padme Hum mantras that must be turned clockwise. During this visit you will surely meet young lamas living in the adjacent monastery.
