RABDENTSE
Ruined royal palace with 3 chörtens on a hilltop overlooking Kangchenjunga and Pemayangtse monastery
Rabdentse was the second capital of the kingdom of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. Destroyed by the Ghurka army, only ruins remain of this royal palace. One can imagine what it looked like by its foundations. The three chörtens that still stand proudly were used by the members of the royal family for their prayers. Located at the top of a hill, it can be reached after a pleasant half-hour walk through the forest. From there, one enjoys a breathtaking view of the Kanchenjunga and the Pemayangtse monastery.
