MULAGANDHA KUTI VIHARA
Temple located at the end of a pretty coconut tree-lined alley, an important place of worship for Buddhist congregations from around the world
Located at the end of a pretty alley lined with coconut trees, this temple completed in 1934 is an important place of worship for Buddhist congregations from all over the world. It contains relics of the Buddha discovered in Taxhila in the Punjab, but these are under a slab and cannot be seen (unlike the urn containing the relics of the Buddha in the Patna Museum). Inside the temple, the 1936 frescoes were done by Kosetu Nosu, a famous Japanese artist. On the right side of the temple, a "descendant" of the sacred tree of Bodhgaya.
