ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Museum featuring superb exhibits such as stone-carved scenes from the century depicting the life of Buddha
The museum is not very big, but presents superb pieces such as these stone carved scenes dating from the5th century relating the life of Buddha. In the entrance hall, in addition to the huge stone umbrella, you will come face to face with the famous capital of Ashoka's column, which has become the symbol of the country. Touch screens in French (yes!) will give you detailed information on the most important pieces. A large 12th century sculpture of Shiva fighting the demon Andhaka reminds us that the two cultures lived together on this site.
