MAHARISHI MAHESH YOGI'S ASHRAM
Temple where the Liverpool group and their wives perfected their transcendental meditation practice
In February 1968, the Liverpool band, along with their wives, Donovan and Mike Love of the Beach Boys, joined the ashram of the guru Maharishi Mahesh to perfect their practice of transcendental meditation. It is here that they compose the majority of the White Album. Nature's Children", which begins with the lyrics "On the road to Rishikesh", is a must listen. Abandoned since 1998, the "Beatles Ashram" is now occupied by facetious langurs.
