SHRI BHARAT MANDIR
Temple, the city's oldest, located in the railway station district and surrounded by massive walls for protection
Located in the railway station area, this temple is surrounded by massive walls to protect it. The main idol represents Lord Hrishikesh Narayan, the incarnation of Vishnu in the Kaliyuga era, with four arms. It is said to have been installed in the 8th century, making this the oldest temple in Rishikesh. It is said that Bharadvaja, a Vedic sage (maharishi) and scholar of ancient India, meditated here for several years. It is an obvious stop for pilgrims who come to seek the blessings of the present deity.
