JYOTISAR
Pilgrimage site considered to be the origin of the text of the sacred Hindu epic, located on the banks of the Jyotisar Sarovar river
Jyotisar, or "source of light and inspiration", is considered the place of origin of the sacred Hindu epic, the Bhagavad Gita. Located on the bank of the Jyotisar Sarovar, a banyan tree, said to be a shoot from the stump of the tree where Krishna preached his sermon to Arjuna, draws crowds. Verses from the Bhagavad Gita, translated into English, are carved into the walls of small temples, and several statues commemorating this event can be found in the city. An ancient temple dedicated to Shiva is also found along the banks
