GURUDWARA BABA ATAL RAI SAHIB JI
45-metre octagonal tower within the Golden Temple enclosure, erected by Baba Atal Rai's father to pay homage to him
This octagonal tower of 45 m is located in the enclosure of the Golden Temple, in the south. It was erected as a tribute to Baba Atal Rai. When he was nine years old, he would have resuscitated one of his friends, mortally bitten by a cobra. Reprimanded by his father for this miracle, because he had acted against the will of the Supreme, Atal then went to bathe in the sacred waters of the lake and lay down to pass into the other world. His father then undertook to erect this tower in his honor.
