RAM BAGH GARDEN
Green gardens featuring a statue of Gandhi overlooking a fountain and an equestrian statue of maharaja Ranjit Singh
Built in 1831, these green gardens house a statue of Gandhi overlooking a fountain and an equestrian statue of maharaja Ranjit Singh, nicknamed "the lion of Punjab". The panorama, a circular building, is dedicated to him. There one can admire life-size re-enactments of the battles against the Afghans and other feats of arms of the maharaja. The palace, which was the former residence of the maharaja in Amritsar, was transformed into a museum in 1977. It houses a small collection of weapons, portraits and manuscripts.
