THE CASTLE NAGGAR
Medieval castle dating from 1460 with typical Himachal Pradesh architecture, the Gauri Shankar Temple dedicated to Shiva below.
Overlooking the valley, this medieval castle built by Raja Sidh Singh in 1460 is a quick but interesting visit. Its architecture is typical of Himachal Pradesh. It is now run by the tourist office and houses a hotel with large rooms and a restaurant. Just below the castle, the Gauri Shankar Temple dedicated to Shiva dating from the 12th century is also worth a visit. A little higher up, one can also visit the institute of the Russian painter, scientist and explorer Nicolas Roerich.
