HADIMBA DEVI TEMPLE
Temple built in 1553 with four superimposed roofs forming a pagoda, sacrificial yak horns near the carved door.
Built in 1553, this fascinating temple stands at the end of a steep path. The maharaja Bahadur Singh cut off the right hand of the architect to keep his work unique. The four superimposed roofs form a pagoda. Next to the beautifully carved door hangs the horns of yaks, sacrificed every year in May on the altar. Inside you enter the mysterious world of Hadimba. According to the legend, it is here that Bhima, hero of the Mahabharata, killed the demon Hidimb and married the sister Hidimba whom he raised to the rank of goddess.
