HEAVY KANGRA
Fort housing a Hindu temple, a Jain temple, a museum and two ruined shrines dedicated to Lakshmi-Narayan and Ambika Devi.
Built in the 16th century by the rajpute dynasty of the Katoch, the imposing fort of Kangra houses a Hindu temple, a Jain temple and a museum. The place alone tells several pages of Indian history: besieged by Mohammed of Ghazni for fourteen months in 1009, it was then besieged by the Sikhs of maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1809, before housing British garrisons from 1846 to 1905. One can see two ruined sanctuaries dedicated to Lakshmi-Narayan and Ambika Devi. From there, the panorama offered on the valley is majestic.
