A museum in Colleville-sur-Mer covering the period from the Allied landings in Normandy to the liberation of Paris.
Located in Colleville-sur-Mer, on Omaha Beach and opposite the access traffic circle to the American cemetery, the Overlord Museum, which opened on June 5, 2013 (soon to be 10 years old!), retraces the period from the Allied landings in Normandy to the liberation of Paris on August 25, 1944. There’s no other museum like it on the coast. At the heart of the memorial sites dedicated to the D-Day landings of June 6, 1944, and the Battle of Normandy, this museum is exemplary in its educational approach. It’s the one Nicolas Leloup imagined to honour the memory of his father, Michel, and showcase his collection, meticulously assembled over nearly half a century on the sites of the events. In the middle of this space, you’ll feel very small in front of these disproportionately large but real (scale 1) machines, tanks, cannons... The reconstructed civilian and military scenes, with mannequins and objects from everyday life, are red threads that draw us in. The sound backdrops recreate those of this painful period. The collection (10,000 items and objects, more than 35 vehicles, tanks and cannons weighing up to 50 tonnes) and the life-size setting are impressive and thought-provoking, especially in these troubled times. The exhibition also features photographs by American photographer Ian Patrick: 64 pictures taken between 1984 and 2018, portraits and moving testimonies of veterans, hung on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Quality Tourism. Closed on December 24, 25 and from December 31 to early February. In February, March, October, November and December, open daily from 10am to 5:30pm. April, May and September, 10am to 6:30pm. June, July and August, 9:30am to 7pm. Free admission for children under 6 (as well as soldiers in uniform and veterans). Adults: €9.50. Children (aged 7 to 15): €7. Store.

The Overlord-Omaha Beach Museum, located in Colleville-Sur-Mer, is an establishment dedicated to the Battle of Normandy. It is just a few steps from the American landing beach at Omaha Beach and opposite the traffic circle leading to the American cemetery. The museum houses a unique and authentic collection, most of which was recovered in Normandy. As soon as you arrive, you'll discover tanks, cannons, a Bailey bridge anda Liberty marker . Inside,you'll find the rest of the Leloup collection, including the Famo, the largest artillery tractor built by the German army. Theentire collection is showcased through reconstructed scenes, both civilian and military, retracing the chronology of events, all accompanied by evocative sound backdrops.
