ARTHUR'S SEAT
Best-known viewpoint, at 1,340 m above sea level, with a deep, barren valley on the left and a green valley on the right
It is the most famous of all the viewpoints of Mahabaleshwar located at 1,340 meters above sea level. Some compare the layering of the rocks on the south side to the famous Grand Canyon of Colorado. It is fascinating to see a deep barren valley on the left and a green valley on the right. Arthur's Seat is the only place from which one can distinguish the Kokan from the Desh (the Deccan), both territories of the Mahabaleshwar. If you take the steps, you will come to a spring called Tiger Spring, which is believed to be the source of the Savitri River.
