SONERI MAHAL
The former home of a warlord, built between 1651 and 1653, has become a lost little museum with bronze statues, etc.
Meaning "golden palace", the Soneri Mahal was originally covered with pure gold leaf, at least in the reception hall. Formerly the home of a warlord sent by Shah Jahan to assist Aurangzeb in his conquest of the Deccan, it was built between 1651 and 1653. The pool was added in 2001. The access to the palace is through the Hathikhana, a majestic gate. It is now a small museum lost on the campus of Dr. B. Ambedkar University. It includes some bronze statues, weapons, some sculptures without much interest.
