ATTARA KACHERI
Imposing 2-storey, dark ochre building opposite the Vidhana Soudha, home to the region's Supreme Court
This imposing two-story dark ochre building is located opposite the Vidhana Soudha, the state parliament. It houses the Supreme Court of Karnataka. The building is in the Greco-Roman style and has an Ionic double-fronton. It was completed in 1868 to house the administrative bodies of the principality of Mysore until 1973. Promised to be demolished several times since the 1950s, because it was considered a relic of the colonial era, it was even saved in 1982 by a judgment rendered... by the Supreme Court.
