MAHAKUTA
Temple dedicated to Shiva, built in the Dravidian style and bordered by several small places of worship with walls decorated with bas-reliefs
The Mahakuteshwara temple, dedicated to Shiva, is built in the Dravidian style. It is surrounded by several small places of worship with walls decorated with a profusion of bas-reliefs. There are a few other Shiva temples in Mahakuta, dating from the Chalukya period. The site has two tanks, the main one being the Vishnu Pushkarni. A small shrine dedicated to Shiva has been built in the middle of the Vishnu Pushkarni. Inside, one can admire a rare panchamukha linga, a linga with 5 heads of Shiva: one at each cardinal point and the fifth on top.
