Art gallery with a rich collection of paintings, including those by Raja Ravi Varme, Tanjore paintings, works from Bali...

This art gallery, also called Sri Chitralayam, was established in 1935 by Sri Chitra Thirunal, the maharaja of Travancore at that time. It has a rich collection of paintings, the most important being those of Raja Ravi Varma, a famous Indian painter of the 19th century, and of the Russian painters Roerich, Nicolas, the father, and Svetoslav Roerich, the son. It also exhibits paintings from Tanjore, as well as copies of murals from the Ajanta, Rajput and Mughal schools, plus some works from China, Japan, Tibet and Bali.
