ARUVIKKARA
Pretty little village on the Karamana river, worth a visit for the park, the colourful dam and an ancient sacred shrine
A pretty little village on the Karamana River, 16 km northeast of Thiruvananthapuram. The main attractions are the park and the dam, which is quite colorful. There's also an ancient sacred shrine, the Bhagavathy Temple, built on a rock and dedicated to Durga, Shiva's wife. Opposite this holy site, don't miss the enormous fish that are fed by passing devotees. The place is mainly frequented by locals, who bring their families for picnics at weekends.
