CONNEMARA MARKET
The Palayam Market, as it is also called because of its location at Palayam Junction, was established in 1857. The beautiful archway at the entrance of this friendly market was inaugurated in 1888 by the Governor of Madras, Sir Connemara. The small alleys house a large number of stalls selling flowers, spices, fish, fruits, vegetables, kitchen utensils, trinkets... It is very pleasant to walk around and observe the lively life of a typical Kerala market. A real abundance of smells and colors, a show for the senses!
