KUMARAKOM BIRD SANCTUARY
57 km² ornithological reserve created on former rubber plantations, ideal for observing migratory birds
Located on a peninsula jutting out into the Vembanad Lake, this bird paradise covers an area of 57 km2. Created on former rubber plantations, this reserve is the ideal place to observe, only from March to July, migratory birds coming from Siberia or the Himalayan foothills: storks, herons... A walk at dawn on board a boat crossing the backwaters in the shade of palm trees is probably the best way to explore it. You can also follow the path on foot where there are two observation towers.
