VAVAR JUMA MASJID
Mosque dedicated to Vavaraswamy, a contemporary and companion of Ayyappa who became one of his disciples, a must-see for the spectacle
This mosque is dedicated to Vavaraswamy, a contemporary and companion of Ayyappa, a Hindu deity. Vavar had assisted Ayyappa during the wars in the mountains and later became one of his disciples. Every year, the sight of the multitudes of Hindu pilgrims worshipping the mosque before their journey to Sabarimala, to worship Ayyappa, a deity of South India, is very impressive. There is also an altar dedicated to Vavaraswamy, considered a great warrior, at the Sabarimala temple.
