This small town 42 km from Munnar is home to the Koodakavu Sandalwood Reserve Forest. Within this reserve, the Ezhuthu Guha are astonishing rock paintings dating back to the Stone Age. Over 90 different motifs, mainly abstract, can be contemplated. Megalithic dolmens from the Iron Age, known as muniyaras, can also be found in the vicinity of the town. Some also contain burial chambers. The nearby Thoovanam Falls are also worth a visit.
