Near Parur is the oldest synagogue in Kerala, which has a Hebrew inscription dating back to 1269. It also houses a small museum, the Kerala Jews Life Style Museum. Explanatory panels tell the story of the village's Jewish community, now settled in Israel. Next door is a Jesuit church and the ruins of a Jesuit seminary. A walk will take you to the Hindu temple overlooking the Periyar River, then to a 16th century mosque and finally to Jewish and Muslim cemeteries!
