COCHIN THIRUMALA DEVASWOM
Temple dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu, the largest and most important of Kerala's Goud Saraswat Brahmins
Also called Gosripuram, it is the largest and most important temple of the Goud Saraswat Brahmins in Kerala. It is dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu. Built in 1599, the temple was destroyed in 1662 by the Portuguese and rebuilt in 1719. A large pool, with the Kula Mandapam in its center, is located in front of the temple. Unfortunately for foreign tourists, including us, the entrance to the temple is reserved exclusively for Hindus.
