RENOVATED FORT KOCHI JAIL
Small prison with 8 cells, built in 1865 and recently renovated, located between the street restaurants and the police station
Recently renovated, this small prison built in 1865 by the Portuguese is nestled between the street restaurants and the police station. Famous freedom fighters or Kerala activists were locked up here: Mohamed Abdul Rahman, KJ Harshal or AK Gopalan. Their conditions of detention were difficult. This prison had eight cells, each of which had a small hole in a corner to evacuate waste and the prisoners had to sleep on concrete beds.
